Holkham is most widely known for Holkham Hall, the magnificent Palladian mansion built by Thomas Coke, 1st Earl of Leicester, and the vast Holkham Estate which encompasses farmland, woodland, the famous beach and the Holkham National Nature Reserve. The parkland trees of the Holkham landscape - many of them veteran specimens - are some of the finest in Norfolk.

Private properties in and around Holkham, Burnham Thorpe and the neighbouring villages are surrounded by the kind of established planting you would expect from estate countryside: mature parkland oaks, avenue trees, walled garden specimens and shelter belt conifers. These require experienced, sensitive management.
